Thank you for your interest in being a substitute teacher with Emmanuel Christian School. There are a few important steps you’ll need to complete before you’re fully ready to start.

1. Fill out an Application!
The Head of School will reach out to set up an interview.

3. Interview with a Principal:
Discuss your qualifications and how you’ll fit in with our school community.

4. Background Check Process:
Once you’re approved for hire, you’ll proceed to a background check.
a. Criminal Background Check Email: You’ll receive an email from Safe Visitor via Bamboo HR to initiate your background check.

b. CPS Background Check: You’ll receive a separate email for the CPS portion, requiring you to list all addresses going back to 1988. We understand this can be challenging, so please provide as much information as possible, especially the counties you’ve lived in. You’ll also need to grant permission for the state of Indiana to release this information to Crimcheck. This request will come through a separate email from KidsTraks.


5. Payroll Setup:

To set you up for payroll, Amy Baker will need to photocopy your I-9 documents (unexpired passport OR driver's license and social security card). Amy is located at the front desk, and her email is [email protected] or you can call her at (260)672-0042. It’s a good idea to confirm she’ll be available when you bring your documents in. She is legally required to personally view and photocopy your documents.

High School or higher

Responsibilities

Study and follow the curriculum and lesson plan as provided by the absent teacher or the principal.

Apply various teaching techniques to encourage participation and facilitate learning.

Prepare educational materials, such as notes, exercises, and additional resources.

Assign classwork.

Take attendance according to school policy.

Keep track of students' progress and write down information that will be useful to the regular teacher.

Report any incidents regarding students' behavior in and out of the classroom.

Maintain a tidy and safe class environment for students.

Oversee school equipment and ensure students use it properly.
